The word “Songkran” comes from Sanskrit language which means move or change. It is normally celebrated in April and lasts over 3 days in the north of Thailand.
On this day, Thai people will clean their houses and sprinkle water on Buddha images to pay respect and wash away the bad luck. One of the highlights of Songkran is "Palm Watering of Elders", Thai people pour water on the hands of elders and ask for their blessings. UWCT hosts Songkran assemblies which bring together the community.
